There is a father and son duo Youtube channel that teaches people about the car industry, specifically speaking about car dealerships and buying cars. The father has 40-plus years as a car salesperson, and the son researches daily to inform consumers about changes in car dealerships and their service departments. Recently, I had to bring my car in to be serviced and experienced the changes. My car is still under warranty.
At the end of March 2022, I bought a pre-certified 2018 Chevy Trax with an extended warranty, and it has all the bells and whistles of computerized features. One day the car would not start, and the computer system was showing theft deterrent. I got the car towed to the dealership service department. The dealership service department used computerized machines to determine the problem instead of relying on a trained, skilled mechanic to diagnose the problem. The dealership service department line up the cars, give them a number, then start to work on fixing the cars/trucks. It took the dealership service department a week to determine the battery was not holding a charge.
Owning a newer car covered by a warranty has its pros and cons. My local mechanic would have had my car back in two days.
